The Bergelectric Charitable Foundation made a $50,000 contribution to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA). The AFA provides support, services, and education to individuals, families, and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias nationwide and funds research for better treatment and a cure.

To help individuals take a proactive approach to brain health, AFA has a National Memory Screening Program, which provides free, confidential memory screenings at sites nationwide. What began as a program on a single day in November has grown into a year-round service that has screened more than 5.1 million people.

An estimated 6.5 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s disease. About 1 in 9 people aged 65 and older (10.9%) have Alzheimer’s. For more about the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, please click here.
