Building Joy, One Playground at a Time

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the Las Vegas branch of Bergelectric partnered with the Roc Solid Foundation for a meaningful playground build that brought joy, hope, and comfort to a very special 3-year-old girl named Autumn, who is bravely battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).

The Roc Solid Foundation is dedicated to building playgrounds for children fighting cancer. Their mission is to bring hope, healing, and joy by creating safe spaces where children can simply be kids again, despite the challenges they face.

During the build, Autumn’s grandmother shared a powerful insight into their daily reality: “We live COVID-19 protocol every day.” Because of Autumn’s condition, she has not been able to safely play outdoors or enjoy many of the simple childhood experiences that others often take for granted.

To help change that, approximately 35 Bergelectric employees and family members came together to build a playground that would give Autumn a safe and joyful space to play. The team arrived motivated and ready to give their time, energy, and care to support Autumn and her family.

In addition to constructing the playground, several team members generously donated funds to provide extra gifts and decorations, helping to make the space even more special.

A meaningful tradition during Roc Solid builds is for volunteers to share why they chose to participate. While many spoke during the group circle, one especially memorable moment came afterward from 10‑year‑old Jonathan Winston, the son of Las Vegas’s warehouse manager. Jonathan arrived directly from a football game, still wearing his pads and gear and immediately joined the build, shoveling dirt and helping wherever needed without hesitation. Later, he shared a simple but powerful reason for being there:
“It is better to give than to receive.”

From children to adults, Bergelectric team members and their families united with a shared purpose: to give back. The day was filled with teamwork, compassion, and genuine generosity.

In the days following the build, Autumn’s family shared their heartfelt gratitude. They explained that Autumn now wakes up excited to play on her playground and that “this is the most she’s smiled since being diagnosed.” Having a safe space where Autumn can play and experience joy again means more to the family than words can express.

This build was more than a project, it was a powerful reminder of the impact that can be made when people come together to serve others.
