Bergelectric Corporate Employees Brighten Holidays for San Diego Families with Book Drive Supporting The Wildflower Initiative

Over the holidays, Bergelectric Corporate employees organized a book drive in support of The Wildflower Initiative—a nonprofit dedicated to nurturing literacy and creating welcoming reading spaces for women and children experiencing homelessness in San Diego. The Wildflower Initiative partners with a range of shelters, with key recipients including:

  • Domestic violence shelters, such as Becky’s House (YWCA San Diego), where they have established “Jenny’s Jungle” libraries stocked with children’s, young adult, and Spanish-language books.
  • Maternity programs, like Home Start’s maternity division, providing mothers and infants with access to books in a nurturing environment that encourages early literacy and bonding.
  • Teen wellness centers and transitional youth shelters, where libraries are set up and books are distributed to support emotional well-being and personal growth.
The centerpiece of their efforts, the signature Jenny’s Jungle program, delivers bookcases, stuffed animals, décor, and more than 400 books to shelters throughout the region, fostering safe, comforting, and empowering spaces for families to read and grow together.
